Vice President of the ALS Association to Present New Research Findings


KANSAS CITY, Kan., Nov. 4, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Dr. Lucie Bruijn, Science Director and Vice President of the ALS Association, will be in Kansas City, November 28th. She is going to be presenting some of the most recent research findings in the fight against ALS, otherwise known as Lou Gehrig's disease.

Dr. Bruijn's presentation will be on the status of ALS research -- "ALSA's Research Portfolio: A focus on TREAT ALS (Translational Research Advancing Therapy for ALS)" at the University of Kansas Medical Center on Monday, November 28th at 7:00 pm in the Orr Major Building, Room 2008, KU Medical Center, 39th & Rainbow, Kansas City, Kansas.

The conference will be located in Kansas City; however, it will be simultaneously telecast in Wichita, KS, Springfield, MO and Omaha, NE. People from all over the Keith Worthington Chapter area will be able to ask Dr. Bruijn questions, and be able to interact with her. This opportunity has been organized to bring individuals affected by ALS together.

Dr. Bruijn has led ALSA's research programs since 2001, and has been instrumental in promoting a collaborative approach to finding a cause or causes and treatments for ALS. This unique research effort brings together leading technology, exploration of gene therapy, stem cell biology, genetic research, environmental factors and patient care in the belief that there will be effective therapies for the disease.

The Keith Worthington Chapter plans on making videos of the conference available to individuals who were not able to attend
