Captain D's Participates in Vegas Restaurant Finance Show; Announces Growth Plans for 2006, Includes International Unit

LAS VEGAS, Nov. 7, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Captain D's, a pioneer and leader in the fast casual dining segment for seafood, will participate in the Franchise Times Restaurant Finance Conference here November 6-8, and reports that it has met its growth and profitability targets for Fiscal 2005 which ended Oct. 31.

With more than 590 units in 26 states, Captain D's Franchise Development Vice President Mike Pearce reports that the 36 year old company had set a goal of 20 news stores for 2005 and that goal was met.

"Seventy-five percent of our growth has come from our existing franchisees, which is good because they recognize the potential for a growth-driven and profitable concept within our category," Pearce said.

Earlier this year, Captain's D's introduced an updated restaurant design which improved store profitability by decreasing building costs and square footage from 3,600 square feet per unit to 2,406 square feet.

"We did this with the intention of reaching a profitability target of a 1:1 ratio of investment vs. revenue generated," Pearce said. "The new motif is enabling an already profitable system to be even more profitable."

According to Pearce, the company will double its growth for Fiscal 2006 to 40 units and that expansion will include the chain's first international operation.

Headquartered in Nashville, Captain D's was founded in 1969 and offers customers a menu of seafood featuring its signature dish of hand cut and hand battered fried fish along with baked or broiled fish, shrimp, chicken and home-style side dishes.
