News Advisory: Top Washington Official to Help Coordinate Delivery of Primary Care to the Uninsured in Detroit and Wayne County


DETROIT, Nov. 7, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- The Detroit Wayne County Health Authority has recruited Richard C. Bohrer, a former assistant U.S. Surgeon General, to serve as chairman of a newly created Primary Care Network Council (PCNC), which will have its first meeting this Tuesday, November 8, from 9:30 to 11:30a.m. at Sacred Heart Major Seminary.

The PCNC is comprised of leaders of the major primary care clinics and health centers in Detroit and Wayne County. The group's aim is to develop ways to improve the delivery of services to the medically underserved through expansion and better utilization of existing resources.

            uninsured and underinsured for the purpose improving
            access to health services through improved utilization of
            existing resources and shared services.

 WHO:       Chris Allen, Executive Director/CEO of the Detroit Wayne
            County Health  Authority, Richard C. Bohrer, Chairman,
            and 21 executives of primary care centers in Detroit
            and Wayne County.

The Detroit Wayne County Health Authority was created to "coordinate efforts to meet the health needs of the uninsured and underinsured residents in the city of Detroit and Wayne County by assuring access and improving the health status of all people."
