EMS SATCOM Announces the AMT-3500 Intermediate-Gain Antenna; Providing More Options For In-Flight Office Functionality

Smaller, lower-profile antenna ideal for smaller aircraft

ORLANDO, Fla. , Nov. 8, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- EMS SATCOM, a division of EMS Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq:ELMG), announced today its new eNfusion(tm) AMT-3500 intermediate-gain antenna (IGA) at NBAA, The National Business Aviation Association 2005 conference and trade show.

"With the eNfusion AMT-3500 IGA, EMS SATCOM now offers three SwiftBroadband ready antenna options, including the company's market-leading AMT-50 and low-profile AMT-3800 high-gain antennas," commented Dr. Neil Mackay, senior vice president and general manager of EMS SATCOM. "The imminent introduction of Inmarsat's SwiftBroadband service means broadband connectivity is no longer limited to the largest business aircraft that support a high-gain antenna, but now available to business jets of a variety of different sizes."

The eNfusion AMT-3500 is an intermediate-gain antenna that supports Inmarsat's Aero-I services and is specifically designed to take advantage of Inmarsat's future SwiftBroadband I-4 capabilities. Its smaller footprint and lighter weight make it an important new component in the eNfusion portfolio of high-speed data equipment. Its addition to the product line means owners and operators of a wider variety of aircraft types and sizes will benefit from the ability to choose a suitable antenna and high-speed data terminal to meet their needs -- both from the same established supplier. An ARINC 781 IGA, it includes an integral beam-steering unit. This reduces the number of components required in a typical installation from three to two.

"The AMT-3500 is an important addition to our eNfusion line of products," says Jean Menard, director of commercial sales at EMS SATCOM. "It will give smaller aircraft the ability to benefit from broadband connectivity during all phases of flight, virtually anywhere in the world. This is an important consideration for longer-range aircraft, but it is also a consideration for shorter-range aircraft based around the globe that demand high-speed connectivity."
