Leading Japan Telecom Provider ACCA Networks and Lantronix to Extend Existing DSL Infrastructure to Machine-to-Machine Applications

One of the largest DSL service providers to develop pilot for machine-to-machine communications services throughout Japan

IRVINE, Calif., Nov. 9, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Lantronix, Inc. (Nasdaq:LTRX), a leader in device networking and data center management technologies, today announced its collaboration with ACCA Networks Co. Ltd., one of Japan's largest Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) network companies, to develop and deliver machine-to-machine (M2M) solutions over one of Japan's largest DSL networks. With the use of Lantronix XPort(r) embedded device server technology, ACCA's customers can now connect a wide variety of machines and devices, providing a whole new range of value added services for commercial and industrial markets. By connecting machines to networks, companies can capture information from devices directly, providing immediate visibility to the business while eliminating physical work and human error. As the M2M market continues to explode around the globe, ACCA realizes the market potential and is looking to educate customers on the value of implementing such a solution in their own corporation.

"We see M2M as a lucrative market and are looking to evangelize the benefits through specific case studies," said Masashi Nakaki, senior vice president & director, strategic business development of ACCA Networks. "From these case studies, we believe our customers will understand the value and realize ways to develop an M2M network that is specific for their needs. In order to do this however, we looked to partner with a company whose solutions delivered the technology our customers would need to quickly and easily add network connectivity to their devices making an M2M network a reality. With Lantronix heritage in this market and their device networking solutions, this collaboration was an ideal match."

To demonstrate the power of machine-to-machine technology, ACCA is launching a live demonstration project using a real factory floor. In this experiment, numerous temperature, humidity and gas pressure sensors are connected to the ACCA network in order to monitor all devices at once. This demonstrates the ability to streamline operation management through M2M networks, and with the use of the XPort, illustrate the value of remotely accessing, monitoring and managing devices on the factory floor over the network or Internet. With a solution such as the XPort, factories will be able to accurately conduct detailed analysis of these sensors eliminating additional personnel and increase overall data precision and efficiencies.

"We are pleased to have been selected by ACCA, one of Japan's largest DSL providers with over a million subscribers, as their partner in rolling out their M2M infrastructure," said Marc Nussbaum, CEO of Lantronix. "M2M enables businesses to create new revenue streams from machine-based value added offerings such as premium maintenance and information access services. In addition, for communication carriers such as ACCA, the transport, processing, hosting and related device data management services represent a significant new growth opportunity."
