Marco's Pizza Sees Parallel in Military Training and Franchising; Offers Veterans Finance Package to Franchise, Become Entrepreneurs


TOLEDO, Ohio, Nov. 10, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Marco's Franchising, LLC, the franchising arm for Marco's Pizza, the 27-year-old Toledo-based chain, thinks the military is the "perfect" training ground for potential franchises and it is offering a special financing package for military veterans to become Marco's Pizza store owners.

According to Jack Butorac, Jr., president of Marco's Franchising, LLC, who acquired the franchising rights to Marco's from its founder Pasquale "Pat" Giammarco, said there are some definite parallels between being and entrepreneur and franchisee and the military.

"Words and phrases that are shared by franchisees and the military are 'not afraid of hard work, discipline, sense of community service and involvement, routine-oriented, leadership and the ability to follow a program or orders,'" Butorac said.

"We at Marco's think it is time for veterans to be at the receiving end of patriotism."

Butorac said that Marco's is offering financial assistance for veterans to open and develop their stores, along with special finance packages that have been arranged through local banks and participate in the Vet Fran Program through the International Franchise Association.

Marco's Pizza has 145 locations in Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Nevada and Arizona. The company is scheduled to open 24 new stores this year, a record for the organization.

Founded in 1987 by Giammarco, who remains with the company in concept development and as a store owner in Northwest Ohio, Marco's Pizza offers customers delivery, pickup an some sit-down service and a menu of custom made pizzas, fresh made subs, salads, chicken wings and soft drinks.
