HUNTINGTON, N.Y., Nov. 17, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Philip A. Teel, corporate vice president and president of Northrop Grumman Corporation's (NYSE:NOC) Ship Systems sector, was recently inducted into Farmingdale State University's Hall of Fame.

The event, which took place at the Oheka Castle in Huntington, N.Y., celebrated Teel's business and community leadership during his tenure at Northrop Grumman's Integrated Systems sector, located on Long Island. Teel was the sector's vice president of airborne early warning & electronic warfare systems.
The Hall of Fame awards are intended to recognize business and community leaders who have forged a working relationship with the college to tailor academic curricula to best meet community and business climates needs.
"All of these things have cumulatively developed a much stronger relationship between the college and the Long Island business community, and that's all had an impact on our academic programs and the reputability of the college," said Jonathan Gibralter, president of Farmingdale State. "That leads us then logically to the conclusion that we want to go out and make an effort to honor those business leaders who have been most ambitious about the relationship that we form with them."
Two other inductees were honored with Teel -- KeySpan chairman Robert Catell and Estee Lauder vice president S. Al Creft. The ceremony was part of a fundraising dinner for the Farmingdale College Foundation, which offers scholarships for students and grants for faculty.
Farmingdale is a coeducational, public college with almost 6,000 undergraduate students, dedicated to educating areas of business, applied arts and sciences, health sciences and engineering technology.
Teel has had a similar positive impact in his new community in Mississippi. "In the short time since his arrival at Ship Systems, Mr. Teel has already demonstrated an avid interest in the well-being of our community, both as a business leader and community advocate," said former Northrop Grumman Ship Systems president and current chairman of the Jackson County Economic Development Foundation, Jerry St. Pe'. "I would like to congratulate him on his recent and well deserved honor for his work in New York and I'd also like to say how pleased and fortunate we are that he has chosen to make the Mississippi Coast his community. In addition to his outstanding executive leadership of our shipyard, Phil has demonstrated his deep compassion for his employees, a personal characteristic that, in the wake of the recent hurricanes, has earned him the respect and admiration of our community."
