Cereplast Bio-based Resin Introduced at Frank Lloyd Wright Designed Marin County Civic Center

HAWTHORNE, Calif., Nov. 21, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Cereplast(tm), Inc. (OTCBB:CERP), producer of proprietary bio-based resins which are used as substitutes for petroleum-based plastics, announced today that the Company's resin was used to manufacture the compostable food service ware that is now in use at the Frank Lloyd Wright designed Marin County Civic Center. "Meeting the needs of the present without compromising the future" is the theme of the overall environmental policy of Marin County. To follow county policy, the selection of Cereplast made-products was a logical choice.

Cereplast's Vice President of Marketing and Regional Planning, Russell Wegner, stated, "This is a key accomplishment for Cereplast. The Marin County Civic Center is a highly visible landmark and should be a great example for many other counties. By joining counties such as San Francisco and Alameda County in using our sustainable products, Marin is pursuing its goal of protecting the environment for future generations."

Although the food service ware looks identical to traditional plastic food service ware, Cereplast uses corn, an annually renewable resource, as a raw material instead of relying on petroleum. As such, the production of Cereplast uses less fossil fuel, emits fewer greenhouse gasses than comparable petroleum-based plastics and products made of Cereplast resins are biodegradable and compostable.

Cereplast is used to create several bio-plastic resins that can be shaped into a variety of products including utensils, containers, film and other packaging. Another key benefit of Cereplast over traditional petroleum based resins is that where the infrastructure exists, products made from Cereplast will also degrade in municipal composting facilities.

Products distributed to the Civic Center by Cereplast distributor American Paper and Plastic, are part of the continued expansion of Cereplast resin products in the San Francisco Bay Area.
