BALTIMORE, Nov. 22, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) has been selected for a contract valued at more than $230 million to update Jordan's national command, control, communications, computer and intelligence (C4I) networks with state-of-the-art systems.
The multi-phase, five-year effort will modernize the Jordanian armed forces' communications and information technology networks and help secure the Kingdom against external threats to its borders.
Northrop Grumman's new BattleSpace Command(tm) C4I and RADIANT(tm) air defense systems will provide the Jordanian government with improved capabilities to react to threats against its national sovereignty. The systems will allow seamless operations between all Jordanian armed forces, including the Army, Navy and Air Force, as well as provide interoperability with coalition forces in the region. The new systems' common operational picture and situational awareness will enable decisive actions in all conflict situations for Jordanian commanders.

BattleSpace Command will provide secure data and voice communication networks that will allow for the timely and accurate delivery of critical intelligence information to military commanders in the field. The system will allow for rapid response to crisis situations and help preempt intrusions against the Kingdom. Based on the U.S. military's Global Command and Control System, BattleSpace Command will be interoperable with U.S. and coalition forces, allowing for the exchange of intelligence information to better support the global war on terrorism.
RADIANT will provide the Royal Jordanian Air Force with one of the most modern air defense systems available today to help provide security and protection against unauthorized entry into the Kingdom's airspace.
