Coastal Technologies, Inc. Announces Contract with Charlevoix Area Hospital


OMAHA, Neb., Nov. 28, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Coastal Technologies, Inc. (Pink Sheets:CTTJ)(the "Company"), a public-traded company, today announced its initial healthcare contract with Charlevoix Area Hospital in Michigan. The Company, formerly trading under the name of SmartData, is focusing on the Healthcare Industry and provides a series of products and outsourcing services in predominantly hospital environments. The products include application and infrastructure software that provide universal data translation enabling real-time data base communications capabilities on multiple platforms. The services provided include supporting of electronic medical records, high availability disaster recovery, clinical software solutions, and consulting on funding through grants.

In 2004, the United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) launched an initiative to move ALL medical records to an electronic format in the next 10 years. The driving motivation is to improve the quality of healthcare. A Universal Health Information Exchange will help to reduce health care costs, improve national responsiveness during tragedies and improve overall quality of care. Mark Renfro, our Vice-President, announced signing a contract to provide the entire suite of services to Charlevoix Area Hospital in Charlevoix, Michigan. Partnering with Central Michigan University Research Corporation (CMRUC) will enable the Company to provide services to several rural hospitals in middle and upper portions of Michigan with Charlevoix being the first site.

CMRUC is an industry-driven, technology-enhanced applied research environment located in Mount Pleasant, MI. This first of eleven "SmartZones" located throughout Michigan will help leverage the Company's penetration into its niche market of providing services to rural hospitals. "This initial contract will serve as a model for the many other hospitals in the area that we have already had serious discussions with. This is the culmination of several years of relationship building and R & D in healthcare computing," states Renfro. "We believe we can add several hospitals rather quickly with this strategic partner."

The Company offers various services that include the development and implementation of new client server applications, business consultancy, systems analysis, customized software development for multiple platforms, local and wide area network configurations, E-commerce, web design and firewall/security.
