Delta Makes it Easier for Customers to Return to the Gulf Coast in the New Year

New Orleans-Atlanta flight schedule restored to pre-Katrina levels; More flights planned at Mobile

ATLANTA, Dec. 5, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Delta Air Lines customers returning to the Gulf Coast for business or pleasure will find it easier to reach their destinations thanks to another round of expanded Delta service across the region planned in the New Year. Effective Jan. 1, Delta will add three more daily flights between Atlanta and New Orleans, restoring service on the route to pre-Hurricane Katrina levels with 10 daily round-trip flights. And beginning Jan. 5, Delta Connection carrier Atlantic Southeast Airlines will add one daily non-stop flight between Atlanta and Mobile, increasing to six the total number of flights between those cities.

"Customer demand for service to the Gulf Coast region continues to strengthen as residents are rebuilding their lives and coastal communities are reestablishing their economies," said Bob Cortelyou, Delta's vice president for Network Planning. "We are restoring the number of flights between Atlanta and New Orleans to pre-Katrina levels for the New Year and will continue to offer air service that supports the economic recovery taking place all across the Gulf Coast."

Delta was among the first airlines to return service to the cities all along the Gulf Coast affected by the fall hurricanes. In October, Delta resumed five daily flights between Atlanta and Mobile and one daily flight between Cincinnati and Mobile. In November, Delta added flights from Orlando to both New Orleans and Baton Rouge. And most recently, in December, Delta responded to increased customer demand by adding three daily flights between Atlanta and New Orleans and announced new service between Baton Rouge and New York-LaGuardia and between New Orleans and Baton Rouge and Washington-Reagan National.

With the January schedule, Delta will offer the most flights to and from the Gulf Coast region with 37 daily departures from four Gulf Coast airports -- 14 from New Orleans, 12 from Baton Rouge, six from Mobile, five from Gulfport/Biloxi.
