Smith & Smith LLP Announces Class Action Lawsuit Against EVCI Career Colleges Holdings Corp. -- EVCI

BENSALEM, Pa., Dec. 9, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Smith & Smith LLP announces that a securities class action lawsuit has been filed on behalf of shareholders who purchased the common stock of EVCI Career Colleges Holdings Corp. ("EVCI") (Nasdaq:EVCI) between November 14, 2003 and October 19, 2005, inclusive (the "Class Period"). The class action lawsuit was filed in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.

The Complaint alleges that defendants violated federal securities laws by issuing a series of material misrepresentations to the market during the Class Period which misrepresented EVCI's business, financial results and prospects to the investing public, by touting the Company's strong revenue, earnings and student enrollment growth while failing to disclose, among other things, that EVCI's growth could not be sustained because it was enrolling more students than its resources and teaching staff could handle.
