Nextcode Corporation Launches ConnexTo For Creating and Reading Barcodes For Camera Phones

Free Service Unleashes the Power of Today's Most Popular Consumer Device

CONCORD, Mass., Dec. 12, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Nextcode Corporation (www.nextcodecorp.com), a leader in optical barcode solutions for camera phones, today announced the launching of ConnexTo(tm). ConnexTo allows camera phone users to create and read 2D barcodes that open a broad range of mobile services. ConnexTo allows consumers to do much more with their phones by removing the need to key in information or navigate through menus. ConnexTo provides codes for WAP addresses, SMS messages, contact information, and auto-dial phone numbers.

ConnexTo is a free consumer service available at www.ConnexTo.com. Nextcode provides the ConnexTo Code Reader, which runs on camera phones, and the ConnexTo Code Creator, which is a web-based application. The ConnexTo Code Reader is available for download to select camera phones.

"Today mobile phones can provide access to entertainment, messaging, contact management and many other services. However, the keypad designed for making calls is not well suited for advanced services," said Jim Levinger, CEO of Nextcode. "Consumers shy away from taking full advantage of the capabilities of their phones and mobile offerings because they find it too complicated or time consuming. With ConnexTo, camera phone users can easily enter data directly in their phone using the camera rather than keying it in. ConnexTo turns what could take hundreds of keystrokes into a fast, easy action."

At ConnexTo.com, consumers can turn information into a 2D codes called "mCode(tm)," an advanced barcode format specifically designed for camera phone applications. ConnexTo creates codes that users can either print or scan straight from a computer screen. Codes can contain data ranging from a simple phone number up to hundreds of characters of information. With an easy scan, the information is entered into the phone quickly and error free.

ConnexTo uses patent-pending technology developed by Nextcode Corporation. Its key features include flexible code formats with thousands of code sizes and shapes, dynamic on-screen code generation, and support for embedded graphics. Further more, ConnexTo enables standard camera phones to easily read codes in real-world conditions with poor lighting, shadows, and other factors. It does not require special optics or image resolution making it easy to implement without additional hardware or handset retooling.

ConnexTo is currently being launched for consumer applications. Nextcode also licenses versions of the ConnexTo technology to firms selling mobile content, or for those developing business applications in logistics, time tracking, sales, and inventory management and other areas.
