ATLANTA, Dec. 15, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- EMS Wireless, the Performance Leader(TM) in RF Solutions, a division of EMS Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq:ELMG), announced today that it has shipped more than $80 million in orders for its products from January through the first week of December 2005. That represents almost double the orders shipped during all of 2004.
"This is the first time in any calendar year we have exceeded $80 million in sales," says Gerald Hickman, senior vice president and general manager of EMS Wireless. "A key contributor has been the widespread acceptance of our Cobra(TM) RET (Remote Electrical Tilt) antennas. More of our customers are now offering broadband services, such as high-speed data and video communications via cell phones, and our antennas allow them to easily fine-tune their networks for optimum speed and clarity."
EMS Wireless customers include major U.S. wireless service providers, who benefit from the division's highly durable antennas and electrical components. The Cobra RET antennas enable wireless providers to adjust the elevation of the tilt beam electronically from ground controllers at the base of a cell tower, avoiding the need to deploy tower crews to optimize and re-tune networks.
"Our antennas enable our customers who offer wireless services to provide dynamic, customized coverage to their subscribers. For example, our customers can enhance their location-specific coverage footprints for special events such as sporting events, or make adjustments to accommodate foliage growth or other seasonal changes that can affect coverage," Hickman says.
One of the few remaining U.S. base station manufacturers, EMS Wireless, also is an industry leader in responsiveness and delivery time of orders, which averages two weeks from the date orders are received.
