HOUSTON, Dec. 20, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- SYSCO Corporation (NYSE:SYY) announced today that Charles A. Munn has been named assistant vice president of labor relations. Mr. Munn, who is currently senior director of labor relations, will assume his new duties effective December 15, 2005. In his new role he will be responsible for SYSCO's union relations in North America and will provide support to the company's broadline and specialty operating companies as they remain Employers of Choice for all current and future associates.
Mr. Munn, 54, began his SYSCO career in 1982, serving at the company's corporate office as associate general counsel. In 1986 he joined SYSCO's broadline subsidiary in Chicago, where he served as vice president of operations until 1992 when he was hired to serve in the same capacity at SYSCO's Salt Lake City operation. Mr. Munn relocated to SYSCO's Philadelphia subsidiary in 1995 to serve as vice president of employee relations and in 1999 he returned to the corporate headquarters to serve in his current position.
Mr. Munn is a native of Joplin, Missouri, where he also attended Missouri Southern State University, earning a bachelor of science degree in business administration in 1973. A member of the Missouri Bar Association and the American Bar Association, he is also a graduate of The University of Tulsa, located in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he was awarded a juris doctor in 1976. He and his wife, Linda, have 3 sons and reside in Cypress, Texas.
