Maxent's ThunderPanel Delivers a Complete High-Performance Audio/Video Solution for the Digital Home

Feature-Rich 42-inch High-Definition WXGA Plasma Television Integrates a 60 Watt Sound System Based Upon ThunderSound Technology to Deliver Clear, Rich Audio

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 4, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Maxent, a leading provider of value-priced flat-panel display solutions for consumers, today announced the ThunderPanel(tm), a feature-rich, high-performance 42-inch high-definition plasma television with a ThunderSound(tm) speaker system that delivers vocal depth and dynamic range that traditional flat panel displays lack. With extensive analog and digital audio and video connectivity options, ThunderPanel delivers the ultimate combination of affordability, versatility and performance in a complete audio/visual solution for the digital home.

Maxent ThunderPanel, a 42-inch high-definition WXGA plasma television, incorporates a six-speaker sound system including side-mounted tweeter and midrange speakers and a 30-watt bottom-mounted subwoofer to deliver rich audio without the need for costly, unsightly, complicated external speaker systems. To further enhance sound performance, ThunderPanel incorporates BBE ViVA(tm) High Definition 3D Sound Technology for authentic and exciting surround sound effects and crystal clear audio.

Incorporating a TrueBlack(tm) video driver circuit to provide outstanding contrast and brightness performance, the wall-mountable ThunderPanel is available in a variety of configurations including the MX-42HPT32 which is Digital Cable Ready (DCR) with CableCARD(tm), MX42HPT31 which includes an ATSC OTA/QAM tuner, MX-42HPT30 which includes an ATSC OTA tuner, and the MX-42HPM30 video monitor. All ThunderPanels incorporate a wide variety of connectivity options including 2 DVI-HDMI inputs to support and display the highest-quality digital picture possible.

"One of the primary reasons that consumers choose to purchase flat panel technology is because plasma televisions are very thin and relatively light, allowing users to enjoy large screen television viewing in more confined spaces," said Brian Ballard, Vice President of Maxent USA. "Having to install a separate audio system, which costs additional money and takes up valuable space, often defeats the purpose of buying a space-saving flat panel. Our new ThunderPanel incorporates a great performing integrated audio system with a 30-watt subwoofer system to provide consumers with a high-performance audio system unique to flat-panel televisions."

The 42-inch Maxent ThunderPanels are high-performance, feature-rich, high-definition 16:9 WXGA Plasma displays which feature a high brightness output of 1200 cd/m2 and support 480i, 480p, 720p, and 1080i SDTV/EDTV/HDTV.

While delivering the most impressive sound in its class through the integrated 60 watt speaker system and BBE(r) surround sound enhancement, the ThunderPanels also provide exceptional video performance through Maxent's MotionDSC II Video Processor which provides 10-bit video processing, 3:2 pull-down with auto bad edit correction, adaptive motion de-interlacing, edge smoothing, an Intelligent Image Scaling Engine (IIS(tm)), and auto flesh-tone correction.

Maxent's ThunderPanels are among the most versatile displays on the market offering a variety of connectivity options including: two HDMI inputs, RGB inputs, two sets of Composite/S-Video inputs, two sets of SD/HD component video inputs, discrete audio inputs for each video input, a composite video output, and an RS-232 remote control port.

The Maxent ThunderPanel will be available through retailers and warehouse stores nationwide in Q2 2006 at a list price of $2,499.
