  Entertainment Devices

CES Booth No. RV2 -- Buffalo Technology, a global leader in the design, development and manufacturing of wired and wireless networking, storage, multimedia and memory solutions today announced the latest addition to its sophisticated line of multimedia devices -- the LinkTheater Mini (PC-P1LAN) -- designed for compatibility and interoperability in the digital home. It is one of the first products of its kind to support consumer electronics devices that are designed to DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) Guidelines.

DLNA is an interoperability standard for the digital home, enabling PC and consumer electronics products to seamlessly work together. It assures products designed to DLNA guidelines will work perfectly together and provides consumers with a better overall digital experience.

The LinkTheater Mini is a compact, easy-to-use home entertainment device designed to allow users to easily view digital content such as music, videos and photos on any product designed to DLNA guidelines, such as a PC or network storage device from any room in the house.

"Compatibility, affordability and ease-of-use. These are the essential elements our customers seek in a multimedia device and that is exactly what the LinkTheater Mini provides," stated Morikazu Sano, vice president of global marketing at Buffalo Technology. "The digital home is no longer a thing of the future. It's here and now and everyone wants to live in it, but not everyone has the technical know-how or desires a highly sophisticated multimedia device. Therefore, the LinkTheater Mini is the perfect solution. At under $100, it's priced right and so user-friendly, that just about anyone can have one in their home."

Powered by Mediabolic's middleware, the LinkTheater Mini supports popular media formats such as MPEG2, JPEG, and MP3. It also supports formats such as BMP, PNG, and LPCM and can convert WMV, AVI, GIF and WMA. The product includes Buffalo's PC media server software, which includes a transcoding engine for real-time file conversion and consistent play back regardless of the media format. It includes a 10/100 Ethernet port and composite video and analog audio output interfaces. Its easy-to-use interface offers powerful features such as music playlist creation and slideshow viewing.

Backed by a limited two-year warranty and toll-free 24/7 technical support, the LinkTheater Mini (PC-P1LAN) will be available in January at an estimated street price of $99. For more information about Buffalo Technology and its products, please visit the company's Web site at www.buffalotech.com.
