BlueLinx Establishes Two Newly Created Positions to Support Growth Initiatives


ATLANTA, Jan. 5, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- BlueLinx Holdings Inc. (NYSE:BXC), a leading distributor of building products in North America, today announced the creation of two senior-level positions in the areas of supply chain management and strategy/business development to support management's growth initiatives.

Duane Goodwin joins the company as senior vice president, supply chain, reporting to George Judd, chief operating officer. Steve Skinner joins as senior vice president, strategy and business development, reporting to Stephen Macadam, chief executive officer.

"Our growth objectives require disciplined, continuous process improvement and comprehensive strategic planning and management," Macadam said. "Duane and Steve bring added strength to our management team in the crucial areas of supply chain and strategy management. They will play key roles as we lead, support and enable our sales and operations teams in the pursuit of management's growth initiatives."

Mr. Goodwin, who most recently served as a consultant to BlueLinx in the area of supply chain management and global sourcing, will be responsible for overall management of the specialty products procurement team, replenishment team, and the corporate transportation, logistics and import groups. His experience includes leading both procurement and sourcing strategy teams for some of the nation's largest retailers. Most recently, he served 10 years with The Home Depot, Inc., where his positions included vice president of global sourcing and, most recently, vice president of merchandising-hardware. Prior to The Home Depot, Mr. Goodwin served nine years with Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., where his experience included global sourcing and divisional merchandise management.

Mr. Skinner, as leader of the company's newly created office of strategy management, will oversee strategy and business development and integrate the departments responsible for executing, evaluating and communicating the company's corporate strategy. These departments include: financial planning and analysis, process improvement, project management, mergers and acquisitions, real estate operations, marketing and communications. Mr. Skinner is a former principal with McKinsey & Co., a management consulting firm, and holds an MBA from Harvard Business School. Most recently, he was president and CEO of Peppers & Rogers Group, a firm focused on marketing, customer strategy and value creation.
