BOCA RATON, Fla., Jan. 5, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- CRC Press (Taylor & Francis) and AOCS (American Oil Chemists' Society) Press are pleased to announce their agreement to co-operate on publishing, in both print and electronic formats, books written by AOCS members. CRC Press is currently loading 39 published AOCS books to their Web-based electronic libraries, FOODnetBASE and CHEMLIBnetBASE, making them immediately available to subscribers. In addition, each year CRC Press will publish 10 to 15 new books by AOCS members.

CRC Press, a major publisher of books in science and technology, publishes 600 new titles each year and has a backlist of 13,000 titles. John Lavender, Senior Vice President of Editorial and Marketing, said, "I am delighted that we have entered into this co-publishing agreement with a society as prestigious as the AOCS. I am sure that this relationship will prove mutually beneficial. The addition of their books to our online libraries brings immediate added value to our subscribers, and our future co-operative publications will bring further depth and breadth to our Chemistry and Food Science book lines. We look forward to providing AOCS authors with the proven benefits of our production, marketing, and distribution capabilities."

AOCS Press is a leading publisher of technical, research, and industrial information on fats, oils, surfactants, and a wide range of related subjects. Jodey B. Schonfeld, AOCS Product Development Director, added, "This new AOCS Press-CRC agreement is the best of both worlds. AOCS authors can disseminate their information/research findings to a larger international audience, and retain the level of excellence they associate with publishing at AOCS Press. Our members and staff look forward to the added mutual benefits of this partnership."

Founded in 1909, with the world headquarters in Champaign, Illinois, the American Oil Chemists' Society (AOCS) is a not-for-profit international scientific society with 4,000 members working in the science and technology of fats, oils, surfactants, and related materials.
