Maui General Store and Trinity BioGenics Prepare to Meet FDA Guidelines for Future Adult Stem Cell Studies in the United States

HANA, Hawaii, Jan. 6, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Maui General Store, Inc. (OTCBB:MAUG) and Palmera Holdings, Inc. dba Trinity BioGenics, announced today that The Stowe Foundation, with whom Trinity holds a license to commercialize stem cell technology findings, has retained the services of Dr. May Jacobson of The CBR institute for Biomedical Research. Dr. Jacobson, an affiliate of Harvard's medical school, will assist The Stowe Foundation in regulatory compliance issues regarding the its upcoming clinical studies on adult stem cells in Mexico City. The Stowe Foundation asked Dr. Jacobson to review the Foundation's technology platform to ensure the study meets FDA standards. The Foundation will begin treating chronic heart failure patients with the adult stem cells in early 2006. These study data will form the basis for a preclinical meeting with the FDA later in the year for approval to test the protocol in the United States. Dr. Jacobson spent several days at Angeles Hospital in Mexico City reviewing the protocol and interviewing the transplant medical team. Dr. Jacobson made several technical corrections to the protocol to ensure the clinical trial will meet FDA guidelines. The Stowe Foundation's technology platform is the basis for Maui General Store and Trinity BioGenics' entry into adult stem cell therapy.
