Artificial Life, Inc. Enters China Mobile Phone Market

HONG KONG, Jan. 10, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Hong Kong based Artificial Life, Inc. (Pink Sheets:ALIF), a leading provider of award winning mobile technology and applications, today announced its intention to commence business activities in China.

The company announced that it will sell some of its products in the Chinese markets in co-operation with and through major local Chinese partner companies. Negotiations are currently being conducted. The company expects its first mobile products to be available in China in early Q2, 2006. The company also intends to launch service and support offices in China.

"The Chinese mobile phone market is the largest in the world with hundreds of millions of users already and the number of users is still growing strongly. We have two reasons to enter the Chinese markets this year: first of all, we now have most of our products available in versions for 2.5G phones which are gaining popularity in China. Secondly, it is widely expected that China will join the 3G world sometime in 2006. Many massive 3G network tests are already under way in several Chinese provinces. We want to be ready when the 3G licenses are issued. We have so far focused on selling in the Hong Kong and Taiwanese markets and have followed and watched the Chinese mobile market to mature before we made this important strategic decision. However, now we believe it is the right time for us to move forward. We have already produced Chinese language versions (Mandarin) for our key products," said Eberhard Schoeneburg, CEO of Artificial Life, Inc.
