HOUSTON, Jan. 12, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Research has shown that the use of handheld video games by pediatric patients reduces a child's anxiety prior to surgery. By distracting a child from the worry of his or her impending operation, doctors can reduce psychological trauma and the need for calming drugs.

To support this research at Texas Children's Hospital, The Jack in the Box Foundation and Dr Pepper donated $10,000 towards the purchase of video games for patients at Texas Children's Hospital.
