Nicholas Appointed Executive Vice President of SYSCO's Facciola Meat Company


HOUSTON, Jan. 16, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- SYSCO Corporation (NYSE:SYY) announced today that Ray D. Nicholas has been named executive vice president of Facciola Meat Company, a SYSCO subsidiary located in Fremont, California. Mr. Nicholas, who most recently served as senior vice president of operations at Newport Meat Company, a SYSCO subsidiary located in Irvine, California, will assume his new position effective immediately.

Mr. Nicholas, 53, has served in the foodservice industry for more than 30 years. In 1979 he joined Newport Meat Company as a marketing associate. He progressed to General Manager the following year and continued to oversee various other positions while at that operation. Mr. Nicholas was appointed senior vice president of operations at Newport Meat Company in 1989.

Mr. Nicholas was born and raised in Whittier, California. He is a 1974 graduate of California State University at Fullerton, where he earned his bachelor of science degree in business administration. He and his wife, Piper, have two sons and will relocate to the Pleasanton area in the near future.
