Aristotle Software for Schools Provides Electronic Student Supervision

LA CROSSE, Wis., Jan. 17, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- With the recent rash of school shootings and student suicide attempts, Sergeant Laboratories sought to develop a program that could possibly help combat this problem facing school systems today. Sergeant Laboratories has designed Aristotle software that gives teachers and school administrators control over student computer use. As well as tracking who's doing what and why on what computer, Aristotle(tm) monitors any potential problems of users. Aristotle can help prevent potential tragedies and ward off possible disasters as it has proved in the case of a Wisconsin school.

Steve Sedlmayr, Superintendent of Schools in Alma, Wisconsin said, "Our Aristotle representative prevented a potential tragedy with a student who referred to suicide in a paper the custodian found in a computer lab printer. Since we were unable to determine who might have written it and at what time, we contacted our Aristotle representative at Sergeant Laboratories at 10:00 p.m. who went to work immediately. Within an hour, he and our computer tech found who had logged on and from what computer and at what time this paper was produced. We immediately contacted the parents of this student who subsequently were able to prevent a potential tragedy."

"We never balk at renewing our Aristotle program. Their staff is truly dedicated to helping schools. They are unlike many software companies we deal with, where the major concern seems to be sales," states Steve Sedlmayr.

Aristotle is a boon for technology coordinators at K-12 schools as it is a hands-free operation and takes the burden off of the techs. It assists school superintendents to monitor their students for safety issues and aids parents who may be unaware of their children's possibly dangerous computer activities and potential problems.

Sergeant Laboratories spokesperson Eric Anderholm said, "We don't build something and then try to convince our customers that it is what they need. We listen to them and build what they need. Aristotle helps both the schools and the students."

The 13-year old Wisconsin-based company also designs and produces monitoring software for banks, small businesses, large corporations and government. Tracking employees' uses of company time helps the bottom line as well as creates an environment for more efficient use of employees' time.
