AUSTIN, Texas, Jan. 19, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- JetBlue Airways (Nasdaq:JBLU) today launched new daily service from Austin, TX, to its home base at New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport and to Boston's Logan Airport. The low-fare carrier will offer three daily flights from Austin to New York-JFK and one daily flight to Boston.

Sale fares begin at $79(a) each way, and must be purchased by Jan. 26, with a minimum 7-day advance purchase. All travel must be complete by May 24. Other restrictions apply(a).

The new nonstop service from Austin will be flown with the carrier's EMBRAER 190 aircraft. This new 100-seat aircraft is among the first JetBlue flights to offer more than 100 channels of free XM Satellite Radio. When combined with the airline's current offering of 36 channels of DIRECTV(r) programming, JetBlue offers the most live entertainment options of any airline.

"People in New York and Boston want nonstop service to Austin, but it's been too difficult and expensive. We think it's too great a city to keep under wraps any longer," said David Neeleman, JetBlue's CEO. "From its distinction as the 'Live Music Capital of the World' to the home of many hi-tech industries, we embrace the diversity that Austin has to offer, and look forward to sharing the JetBlue Experience and our low fares with our new customers traveling to or from Austin."

"We are excited that JetBlue has chosen Austin to offer their high quality, low cost, nonstop service to such popular destinations as New York and Boston," said Austin Mayor Will Wynn. "This new service will stimulate more travel to and from our great city, and we look forward to providing travelers with more direct low fares to two of the biggest markets."

"We welcome JetBlue to Austin-Bergstrom International Airport and to Texas. There was a pressing need for more nonstop capacity to the key business markets of New York and Boston, especially from a carrier that offers low fares," said Jim Smith, Executive Director, Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. "JetBlue's friendly customer-centric style and energy match that of Austin's. With support from our dynamic community, JetBlue will continue to expand the economy of Central Texas."
