Photo Release -- FCI USA, Inc. Announces New Apex 150 Sealed Connectors, USCAR Compliant and Built for Demanding Environments

NOVI, Mich., Jan. 25, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- FCI USA, Inc., a leading supplier of electrical connectors to the OEM automotive industry, now offers a new USCAR compliant APEX 150 family of smaller sealed electrical connectors for especially demanding environments, including engine compartment and safety critical applications, announced Ed de Chazal, FCI marketing manager.

These connectors are built around a new 1.5mm blade and receptacle terminal system, capable of carrying up to 25 amps of current for wire-to-wire and wire-to-device applications. The APEX 150 line includes 10-circuit and 16-circuit connectors as well as a 14-circuit hybrid connector, featuring a combination of 1.5mm and 2.8mm terminals for up to 40 amps of current.

"APEX terminal technology has always been a rock-solid performer, proven reliable and effective in over 10 years of automotive use, particularly in harsh environments that include heat, moisture, vibration and rugged handling," noted de Chazal. "But, what's really new for the industry is the smaller package, derived from our benchmark APEX 2.8mm family. All APEX connectors, including the new 150, feature a high normal force, low insertion force technology. They come pre-assembled, requiring that only the terminal wire leads be inserted and the terminal assurance device be set. There are no loose parts and no separate seals that have to be crimped to the wire."

APEX 150 pricing is competitive with systems offering fewer features and far less performance.

In addition to the APEX 150, FCI USA offers a full line of 2.8mm APEX Connectors for heavy duty demands. FCI USA, a leading supplier of electrical connectors to automotive, industrial and computer markets, is also the number one automotive supplier of squib connectors for airbags, pretensioners and other pyrotechnic devices.
