Announcing 9th Annual Roy Rogers and Dale Evans Western Film Festival At Historic Apple Valley Inn February 18th and 19th

APPLE VALLEY, Calif., Feb. 1, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- The 9th Annual Roy Rogers and Dale Evans Western Film Festival moved to historic Apple Valley Inn, formerly the Roy Rogers Apple Valley Inn, February 18 & 19, 2006. Proceeds from this popular annual event benefit the abused children served by the Happy Trails Children's Foundation. The Apple Valley Inn is located at 20601 Highway 18, also known as Happy Trails Highway at the intersection of Dale Evans Parkway in Apple Valley, CA.

The festival provides an opportunity for folks to come together in a place that was very special to Roy and Dale. Fans can watch Roy and Trigger gallop across the silver screen, fighting for truth and justice in the Old West, as they did in their heyday in the '40s and '50s, when Roy was the number one ranked cowboy star at the box office for more than ten straight years! Roy and Trigger, along with Dale, lovable sidekick Gabby Hayes and the Sons of the Pioneers, formed one of the greatest and most successful movie teams of all time!

Some rare film titles to be shown include Night Time in Nevada (1948), Bells of Rosarita (1945) and Sunset on the Desert (1942), and episodes from the popular Roy Rogers TV show. Special celebrity appearances by actors Tommy Cook; Ben Cooper; Marie Harmon; Dick Jones; Tom Reese; William Smith and Hal Spencer, son of Tim Spencer of the original Sons of the Pioneers and a great lineup of stuntmen including: Roydon Clark; Diamond Farnsworth; Whitey Hughes; Loren Janes and Dale Park as Gabby Hayes.

There will be silent and live auctions including Roy and Dale memorabilia, collectibles, and once again this year will be the Saturday Night Awards Banquet. Enjoy a western music concert and a delicious buffet dinner plus a special Celebrity Panel hosted by Boyd Magers, publisher of Western Clippings, one of the foremost western film historians in the country. Shop the Cowboys of the Silver Screen Collectors Swap Meet for great buys on photos, videos, books, toys, posters and collectibles from the "golden era" of the Westerns!

Monday, February 20 -- Presidents' Day -- is "A Day at the Ranch," at the Roy Rogers Double R Bar ranch in nearby Oro Grande. There will be more western movies in the big red barn, carriage rides, live western music, cowboy poetry, plus a delicious chuckwagon lunch.
