MILWAUKEE, Feb. 6, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Modernization and global competition has undoubtedly affected culture and life in the Arab world. While some Arab people embraced modernization, others get confused choosing between the old and the new ways of life, while a few others try to live life based on tradition and culture. With the presence of modernization now felt in the Arab world, what does the future hold for Bedouin Arabs? In his compelling cultural book The Seasons of Tulul, author Egon H.E. Lass presents to readers an in-depth look at Bedouin Arabs.

The Seasons of Tulul focuses on the Bedouin life, describing in deep detail its family life, inheritance, tribal relationships, feuding, religious thought, and confrontations with the modern world. Readers will be amazed to discover the many aspects of Bedouin culture as the book explores friendship, honor, hatred, and obligation in ways that are not familiar to many other people. Furthermore the book explains the history of the tribe, why they traditionally prefer herding over standard jobs, and what led to their reputation of being resistant to outside government and influence.

A wide variety of readers are expected to be attracted by Lass' book, especially people who want to expand their understanding of foreign culture and people who intend to go to the Middle East and interact with its inhabitants.
