New Compact Computed Tomography X-Ray System With Submicron Resolution from phoenix-x-Ray

ANAHEIM, Calif., Feb. 8, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- phoenix-x-ray Systems + Services Inc., today at APEX introduced to the North American market a new, high resolution computed tomography x-ray analysis system in a compact package, the nanotom(r). The nanotom(r) is a 160 kV nanofocus(tm) computed tomography system that is tailored completely for the special needs of material science, micro mechanics, electronics and biological applications. A complete and working system is on display in the company's booth No. 2317 at APEX the rest of the week.

A downloadable 300dpi high-resolution photo of the nanotom is available on the World Wide Web at http://www.seeyouinprint.com/phoenix/nanotom_open_shadow.jpg.

The very compact system consists of a granite based CT-construction with a 160 kV high-power nanofocus(tm) X-ray tube of phoenix-x-ray and a special digital detector to reach a voxel resolution of less than 500 nm (0.5 micrometers). The fully digital detector has 5 Megapixel resolution and a measurement range expansion for the highest possible resolution.

The nanotom(r) can examine samples with diameters up to 120 mm (4.7 inches) and a weight up to 1 kg (2.2 pounds). The special door construction as well as the advanced sample fixture permits a simple and precise positioning of the samples.

The nanotom(r) comes with phoenix-x-ray's new CT-software, datos-x. This software offers an easy and intuitive operation and requires only minimal training. The high efficiency of this software guarantees best image quality and volume reconstruction at all times. An available PC cluster provides further reduction of reconstruction times.

The nanotom(r) is particularly suitable for the 3D examination of sensors, complex mechatronic samples, micro electronic components and material samples in every type like synthetic materials, ceramics, composite materials, rock samples and much more.

Depending on the customers' options, prices for the system will be around $400.000. Delivery is approximately 8 weeks ARO.
