Scantron Assessment Solution Named Finalist in 2006 CODiE Award For Best Student Assessment

IRVINE, Calif., Feb. 10, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Scantron's formative assessment solution, the only assessment system to offer the benefits of both traditional fixed-form testing and computer adaptive testing, has been named a finalist for the 2006 CODiE Awards as "Best Student Assessment System." Established by the Software & Information Industry Assoc., the CODiE Awards are among the most prestigious in the software industry, showcasing the finest software and digital content products and services across a wide variety of categories. Award winners will be announced Tues., May 16 at the 21st Annual CODiE Awards Gala in San Francisco.

Scantron's assessment solution combines the company's Performance Series(tm) and Achievement Series(tm) systems in one single interface. By integrating fixed-form testing with computer adaptive assessments, the two products work together to create a comprehensive assessment system that provides educators with the data necessary to make informed instructional decisions and improve student achievement.

"It's rewarding to us to know that journalists and peers throughout the industry recognize the excellence of the Performance and Achievement Series solution," said Tim Loomer, president of Scantron's Testing and Assessment Division. "Our success is based entirely on our customers' success, so this truly is an honor to all the dedicated educators who use our solutions to promote student achievement."

The CODiEs finalist distinction comes on the heels of last fall's announcement that Scantron's Achievement Series and Performance Series had won top honors in the 2005 Distinguished Achievement Awards, a coveted awards program sponsored by the Association of Education Publishers (AEP). The AEP awards recognize diverse print, electronic, and instructional resources exhibiting superior content and educational value.

Through a unique combination of journalist and peer review, the CODiE Awards recognize 71 categories of outstanding products and services, as well as corporate excellence and philanthropy. This year's 348 finalists represent a wide and impressive array of technology and business excellence, passion and success. They were chosen from more that 1,026 nominations submitted by more than 500 companies -- breaking the nominations record set in the 2005 awards.
