For Dog, Love, Justice, and Life -- New Novel Shows the Great Responsibility and Adventure of Dog Care

LAKEWOOD, Ohio, Feb. 14, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- So far, you do not have any pets in the house, but when your kids start haunting you to the brink of your sanity with the question, "Can we have a dog?", you might want to buy the latest in juvenile fiction, Rescue Me by published author Ken Pullen. This book holds a wonderful story about a boy's first-time responsibility in taking care of a really unique dog. Full of excitement, facts of life, and even suspense, kids and even parents will love to read about the special boy-dog friendship in this book.

Rescue Me's main character is twelve-year-old Kenny, who lives with his mom; his father left the two of them, but he's a thing of the past. What's on Kenny's mind now is his proposal to his mom: getting a dog-an idea that seemed initially bizarre to Kenny's mom. From his mom's reaction, Kenny knew he had to take matters into his own hands, so he researched and inquired about how to get a dog until his efforts paid off: he was told about an Airedale terrier named Cora. Setting Cora's breed aside, she was a very special dog, but in a sad way: she was abused by her former owners. But that didn't douse Kenny's excitement; he knew he had found the dog of his dreams. Little did he know how big a responsibility, and how great an adventure, it would be to keep that dream alive.

Rescue Me is a highly recommend novel for kids whose family plans on getting their first family dog. Rather than have boring step-by-step procedures on "caring for your canine," this book lays it out in a wonderfully written story filled with comical dog tales, a shocking dognapping, and even a search-and-rescue that had the police involved, making this very ideal for readers in the nine-to-twelve-year age group. So, when it will be the first time your kids will be taking care of pet dogs, let them read about the adventures of Kenny and Cora.

About the Author

Ken currently resides in northern Ohio with his wife Dorie. While never attending a writing school, that has not kept him from penning three screenplays, two volumes of poetry, numerous short fiction stories, and beginning his first novel. Ken spends time off from writing with his wife, working to become a real guitarist one day, and, of course, with his beloved dog. Rescue Me is his first published work.
