Port O' Call Raises Over $60,000 for Atlanta Ronald McDonald House Charities

ATLANTA, Feb. 14, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Atlanta Ronald McDonald House Charities' Port O' Call Event rode a wave of success on February 4th, raising over $60,000 for the two Atlanta Ronald McDonald Houses, located near Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston and Scottish Rite.

Nearly 500 guests to the 11th Annual Port O' Call event enjoyed amazing food from around the world, live and silent auctions, a fashion show, and a raffle for two travel packages. Auction participants eager to benefit both houses placed bids for unique sports memorabilia, travel packages, and gift items. The bidding was fast and furious for the auction as well as the exciting fashion show, featuring local models decked out in the latest fashions. Everyone in attendance also enjoyed the raffle, whose winners walked away with a trip to Puerto Vallarta and Cabo San Lucas.

Wes Logue, Director of Development for Atlanta Ronald McDonald House Charities, on the event's outcome, "Port O' Call was an overwhelming success for our area houses, and Atlanta Ronald McDonald House Charities thanks all those who came out to support this important cause."

Since 1979, the two Atlanta Houses have provided over 30,000 families warm meals and all the comforts of home while their children undergo treatment at nearby hospitals. Atlanta Ronald McDonald House Charities creates, finds, and supports programs that directly impact the health and well-being of children, and the 2006 Port O' Call event is another example of how Atlanta's residents show their support for this wonderful cause.
