AUGUSTA, Ga., Feb. 15, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Delta Air Lines -- the Official Airline of the PGA Tour(R) -- is making it more convenient for customers to stroll the links alongside some of the world's best golfers during the 2006 Masters Tournament at the historic Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Ga. The airline is adding 32 flights -- or more than 3,200 seats -- between Augusta and its largest hub in Atlanta from April 2-11 to accommodate increased demand for this year's Masters Tournament. Additionally, Delta is adding a non-stop flight from Augusta to its Cincinnati hub on April 10 to provide customers additional outbound travel connections on what is expected to be the most popular travel day of the tournament.
"The Masters Tournament is one of the premier sporting events in the world and once again Delta is proud to offer customers from around the globe the opportunity fly the official airline of the PGA Tour directly to the home of Augusta National," said Bob Cortelyou, Delta's vice president of Network Planning. "Delta offers customers the most convenient access to Augusta with more weekly departures to and from Augusta Regional Airport than any airline, and convenient one-stop access to more than 200 global destinations from the world's largest airline hub in Atlanta."
The additional flights will be operated by Delta and Delta Connection carrier ASA using MD-88, Boeing 737, Boeing 767 and Bombardier CRJ200 aircraft. The flights are in addition to ASA's year-round average of six daily flights between the two Georgia cities.
