LOS ANGELES, Feb. 16, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Northrop Grumman has named Carolyn Pittman vice president, internal audit effective March 6. She succeeds Ken Mars, who is retiring after more than 33 years with the company.

In her new role, Pittman will be responsible to the chief financial officer and the audit committee of the company's board of directors for implementing an effective centralized internal audit program for the company. She will manage the audit functions located at each Northrop Grumman sector, supporting the sector presidents and management teams to execute audit programs that provide independent and objective evaluations of control systems and operational effectiveness.
"Carolyn Pittman's in-depth experience with internal controls will allow her to implement a thorough and far-reaching internal audit program," said Wes Bush, Northrop Grumman executive vice president and chief financial officer. "She will be central to the overall risk management approach for the company."
Previously, she was vice president, finance and controller at the company's Integrated Systems sector, as well as leader of the financial service center/enterprise solutions group. Since joining Northrop Grumman in 1995, Pittman has held a number of leadership positions at the Integrated Systems sector, including division accounting manager, sector director of common systems and process transition, sector director of accounting and sector controller.
Prior to joining Northrop Grumman, Pittman spent ten years with Ernst & Young attaining the level of senior manager in the audit department. A certified public accountant, Pittman earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Arkansas and a master's degree in business administration from Dallas Baptist University.
