Performance, Stability and Now Collaboration -- SmarterMail 3.0 Released

PHOENIX, Feb. 22, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- SmarterTools Inc., a leading developer of email, log analytics and help desk applications, is pleased to announce the availability of SmarterMail 3.0, the ideal mail server for small businesses, ISP's and hosting companies. Building upon the stability and reliability of previous versions that are currently being utilized by over 10 million users worldwide, this version will appeal to an even a wider audience through the addition of new features, performance enhancements and the highly anticipated Enterprise edition.

The focus of SmarterMail 3.0 is both the increased functionality and advanced feature set of the existing Professional Edition, as well as the introduction of the new SmarterMail Enterprise Edition. With the emphasis on performance enhancements, full calendaring with event notification, tasks lists, advanced AJAX interface support, denial of service and harvest protection and much more, the Professional Edition of 3.0 already represents a significant upgrade. The new Enterprise Edition includes features such as the sharing of calendars, contacts, tasks and folders and further builds upon the solid foundation of SmarterMail Professional. Other additions to Enterprise Edition include full archiving capabilities with compression for all incoming and outgoing messages (by domain), the perfect solution for businesses needing to comply with Sarbanes-Oxley, and the introduction of LDAP and Outlook integration via web services that give customers the ability to quickly utilize global address lists and other shared services.

According to Bryon Grosz, product manager for SmarterMail, "In this version, we really focused on features that our customers requested and we spent the time and effort to implement the suggestions exactly how customers intend to use them. For example, the ability to archive all messages for specific domains allows companies to better meet compliance for the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 within a hosted/shared environment, something unique for a mail server. In addition, by keeping the small business or hosted service in mind, we also create the potential for our customers to create additional revenue streams. Again, archiving is the perfect example as that particular feature can be separated and offered as an additional billable service that customers can provide."

Finally, SmarterMail has also invested heavily into its relationship with Declude, the premier provider of software applications specifically designed to detect and halt the spread of spam, viruses, worms and Trojan horses through email. Even though the partnership has been in place for a year, the true benefits of the partnership are just now being seen as the integration of the Declude product lines into SmarterMail is finalized. Utilizing Declude builds upon and enhances the Bayesian filtering and weighting system functionality already built into SmarterMail and means that end users will potentially catch and avoid up to 99% of all unwanted mail. According to Barry Simpson, vice president of sales for Declude, Inc., "the kind of comprehensive solution our two companies bring to the marketplace is exactly what customers have been asking for: the perfect combination of price, performance and control over potential threats."
