SEMPO Announces Board of Director 2006 Election Results

NEW YORK, Feb. 28, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- SEMPO (Search Engine Marketing Professional Organization), a non-profit professional association working to promote the value of Search Engine Marketing (SEM) worldwide, today announced its 2006 Board of Directors. The board was chosen in the organization's second, member-wide election held during February.

"As the search engine marketing profession continues to grow, and online industry issues such as click fraud and rising keyword competition become more of a worldwide concern, it's important we have a board of directors that represents all facets of the industry," says Kevin Lee, a member of the 2006 SEMPO Board of Directors and Co-Chair of the non-profit association's Research Committee. "Our 2006 board reflects this diversity and will be invaluable as we address issues of industry concern during the year," says Lee.

SEMPO recently released survey data that showed search engine marketers spent $5.75 billion in 2005, a 44 percent increase over 2004. The organization estimates SEM spending to reach $11 billion by 2010.

"Clearly, those numbers show the growing importance of search engine marketing. As the leading industry organization, we want to support this growth, and at the same time, ensure that the public understands the increasing value of search engine marketing to the general economy," says Lee.
