Major North American Defense Contractor Invests $300,000 in I-Logix Rhapsody

I-Logix Rhapsody Triumphs in Demanding Tool Evaluation, Delivers Complete MDD Solution to Meet Productivity and Quality Goals

ANDOVER, Ma., March 1, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- I-Logix (www.ilogix.com) announced today that a leading North American defense contractor invested $300,000 in the Rhapsody Model Driven Development (MDD) environment, planning to maintain their leadership position in the global Aerospace/Defense marketplace by using Rhapsody to meet productivity and quality goals.

I-Logix established a Rhapsody "beachhead" at the defense contractor in 2004, when a Florida-based electronic systems division selected the MDD tool to develop a sophisticated avionics application. To meet aggressive ramp-up expectations from the new user, I-Logix held on-site workshops and training classes, offering services products and consulting. Fully prepared in record time, a team of engineers developed a successful Navy reconnaissance aircraft avionics project using Rhapsody. Impressed with their overall quality and productivity gains, the team enthusiastically recommended Rhapsody to their peers in other locations.

The positive feedback quickly caught management's attention at division headquarters. Looking for a suitable replacement for an existing modeling tool that was no longer supported by the vendor, the company added Rhapsody to a market study "short list" with several other "modeling tools". An in-depth evaluation survey followed and each of the short-listed modeling tools were thoroughly tested. Of the 5 candidate products, only one was found to meet all the evaluation criteria -- Rhapsody by I-Logix.

The defense contractor selected I-Logix as their standard MDD environment provider, immediately investing $300,000 in Rhapsody "just to prime the pump." What had begun as an architectural tool study evolved to the company embracing a full MDD design approach. The evaluation opened up the company to the benefits of Rhapsody and its rich feature set including its unique executable Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF) support systems and Systems Modeling Language (SysML) compliant offerings. The company plans future rollouts to other divisions as they embrace MDD methodologies to drive their competitive edge in the Aerospace / Defense marketplace.
