Junior League of Orange County, Calif., Inc., Invites Potential New Members to Attend Neighborhood Meetings

Locations include Costa Mesa, Coto de Caza, Huntington Beach, Irvine, Ladera Ranch, Laguna Niguel, Newport Beach, Orange, and Yorba Linda


NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., March 6, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- The Junior League of Orange County, Calif., (JLOCC) is inviting potential new members to attend neighborhood meetings set for 10 a.m. and 7 p.m., on Monday, March 20. The meetings, which will be held in Costa Mesa, Coto de Caza, Huntington Beach, Irvine, Ladera Ranch, Laguna Niguel, Newport Beach, Orange, and Yorba Linda, will offer a small-group setting where the current projects and goals of the JLOCC will be reviewed.

The Junior League of Orange County, CA, Inc., is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. JLOCC members include professional women, stay-at-home moms, and students 21 years or older.

Throughout the League's history, its members have been advocates and volunteers on issues primarily affecting women, children and families. The JLOCC's efforts now focus on the prevention of child abuse and adolescent pregnancy through education and mentoring. Both funds and volunteer hours are given to the community through building collaborations with non-profit organizations with similar goals.

Current charitable projects benefiting from JLOCC volunteers and their fund-raising efforts include Canyon Acres Children & Family Services; Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA); Impact Orange County; Orange County Children's Therapeutic Arts Center; Casa Teresa Mentoring Program; Girls, Inc., Action for Safety Program; YMCA Youth Service Corps; and Bear Hugs.

The members of the JLOCC share a vision of a community in which all children and adolescents are supported to flourish and realize their hopes and dreams. The organization strives to support each member and encouraged to increase her experience, knowledge, and leadership skill set in the process of becoming an effectively trained community volunteer.
