PASCAGOULA, Miss., March 9, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC) has appointed Edmond Hughes Jr. as vice president of human resources and administration for the company's Ship Systems sector, effective March 20.

In his new role, Hughes will be responsible for the design and implementation of the sector's human resource's strategy, directing the development of the sector's work force, including talent acquisition, leadership development and training, employee relations, organization change and effectiveness, and designing competitive compensation and benefits programs.
"Edmond Hughes is an outstanding addition to our team," said Philip A. Teel, corporate vice president and president of the Ship Systems sector. "His demonstrated ability to manage human resources programs across multiple manufacturing organizations is a huge asset."
Hughes joins Northrop Grumman after more than 15 years at TRW Automotive in human resources roles of increasing responsibility. He served most recently as director of human resources for a business unit with 13 manufacturing plants and 4,200 employees in three countries. Before joining TRW, he worked for General Motors.

Hughes earned a bachelor of science degree in chemistry from Tougaloo College, Tougaloo, Miss., and a master's degree in business administration from Indiana University.
