According to Bernard Schmitt, "On Friday, the U.S. economy added 243,000 jobs in February even as more people searched for jobs to push the unemployment rate to 4.8%. The strong jobs report focused investors on the current strength of the economy instead of interest-rate concerns. Crude oil prices retreated to settle at $59.96 a barrel. The Dow Jones industrial average was up 94.45 points, or 0.86 percent, at 11,066.73. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 12.88 points, or 0.57 percent, at 2,262.60. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was up 9.18 points, or 0.72 percent, at 1,281.41. The Russell 2000 leaped 8 points to 726."
