COSTA MESA, Calif., March 13, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- The CDMA Development Group (CDG) (www.cdg.org) today announced the appointment of Dr. Chungming An, as the CDG's Vice President for Greater China and Southeast Asia. Based in Taipei, Dr. An will represent the CDG and work closely with governments and regulators, as well as CDG member operators and manufacturers, to ensure the continued growth of CDMA2000(r) in the region as the market transitions to 3G.

"CDMA2000 has made significant inroads in China and throughout Southeast Asia in recent years, and there will be even greater opportunities in the future. Dr. An brings the right combination of technology expertise, a successful management track record and an understanding of the market to lead our efforts in the region."

Dr. An's 30-year distinguished professional career in the wireless industry includes technology management, new market development and leadership positions with wireless service providers. He recently retired from Asia Pacific Broadband Wireless Communications (APBW) where, as CEO, he led the deployment of the first 3G network in Taiwan. Prior to joining APBW, he was the President of Mobitai Communications. During his 20 years at Bell Laboratories, Dr. An held leadership positions on technical projects and spent 4 years as a regional director for business development in China and Asia Pacific. Prior to joining Bell Labs, he taught at University of Pennsylvania, Johns Hopkins University and Seton Hall University. Dr. An earned a Ph.D. degree in Mathematics from the University of Pennsylvania. He also has completed Executive Management programs at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School and at the University of Michigan. In addition, Dr. An led a U.S. delegation at the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) and is currently a senior member of IEEE.
