New Gulfport Residential High-Rise Reflects Mississippi's Vision of Renewal

GULFPORT, Miss., March 20, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- The Mississippi Gulf Coast is receiving a welcome addition to its revitalization efforts this week as Hathaway Development Company, Inc., a leading multi-family development firm, will break ground on a high-rise residential building in Gulfport, Mississippi on Thursday.

The first high-rise community constructed in Gulfport since Katrina devastated the area last year, "Sienna on the Coast" Condominiums is designed to embody the direction set forth by Governor Haley Barbour's Commission on Recovery, Rebuilding and Renewal, as well as incorporate the vision of local leaders in the Gulfport area.

Brent Warr, Mayor of the City of Gulfport, on the new development: "This project is indicative of the type of quality condominium construction we want here in Gulfport," Warr said, adding, "Our community is excited and encouraged by this new beachfront construction, and we thank the Hathaway Group for their commitment to our City."

Thursday's ground breaking, which will include Gulfport Mayor Brent Warr, is a culmination of comprehensive work between Hathaway and Gulfport civic officials to create a property that serves as a shining example of the future of the Mississippi coastline.

Michael Muggridge, President of Hathaway Development Company, on the new property in Gulfport: "The revitalization goals for Gulfport were paramount in every phase of our design and development. It is our hope that Sienna on the Coast Condominiums will be the first of many major developments in the area that remind the nation of the immense splendor of the Mississippi Gulf Coast."

With all available units sold prior to Katrina, "Sienna on the Coast" Condominiums will ultimately provide over 300 construction jobs to the Gulf Coast and is the first in a series of exciting new developments that exemplifies Hathaway Development Company's dedication to the renewal of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Furthermore, even though construction costs increased substantially, Hathaway continues to honor its pre-Katrina sales agreements. A similar design is under development a short distance away in Long Beach, Mississippi. "Veranda on the Coast" also signifies the importance of offering quality living in Mississippi's rebuilding coastal region.

About "Sienna on the Coast" Condominiums

A joint development between Hathaway Development Company and Gomel-Burton Investments of Mobile, Alabama, construction for "Sienna on the Coast" Condominiums was slated to begin in September of 2005, but due to the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, Hathaway had to delay development. Strongly committed to the project, the firm respectfully waited for compliance approval from state and local officials before continuing with this week's recommitment ground breaking.

The 82 resort-style condominiums are located on picturesque beachfront property adjacent to U.S. Highway 90. The units are approximately 1,450 square feet with two and three bedrooms, all with luxurious amenities. The high-rise design tastefully encompasses Old World architecture with an Italian style, complemented by a hard coat stucco exterior. Residents not only enjoy their proximity to beautiful Gulfport and its spectacular beaches, but also can relax by a large swimming pool and putting green facilities.
