Morris, Manning & Martin Partner to Again Chair Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce Political Action Committee

John Yates Chosen for Second Term


ATLANTA, March 20, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Morris, Manning & Martin Partner John Yates has been chosen to chair the political action committee of the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce for a second term. The political action committee, called MACPAC, was formed in 2005. Under Yates' leadership, it has raised funds for candidates for legislative office in Georgia.

"John's leadership has been instrumental in getting the PAC launched and funded and we are already seeing results," said Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce President, Sam A. Williams. "We're deeply grateful for his talent and commitment."

The MACPAC works closely with the Chamber's Public Policy and Economic Development divisions to improve the quality of life for the 28-county metro Atlanta region by identifying ways to engage business leaders' energy and expertise to improve traffic congestion, the education system and the environment.

"I'm honored to serve metro Atlanta as Chair of MACPAC. We have outstanding leadership in the Georgia General Assembly, and we want to recognize and support their service for our community," Yates said.

Yates, a Chamber board member and past Co-chair of its Technology Business Recruitment Committee, is Chair of the Technology Group of Atlanta-based law firm Morris, Manning & Martin, LLP. His numerous community service efforts include co-chairing United Way of Metro Atlanta's Tech Initiative, and founding and serving in leadership roles of several technology-related associations.
