FieldTurf Tarkett Launches Basketball Court Division in North America

MONTREAL, March 29, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- FieldTurf Tarkett, the undisputed worldwide leader in artificial turf, made major news today by announcing plans to design, manufacture and market a new line of state-of-the-art basketball courts. The announcement was made by FieldTurf Tarkett CEO John Gilman.

The recent merger of FieldTurf with Tarkett, the European turf and flooring brand giant, expedited FieldTurf Tarkett's foray into the basketball court industry. The company has developed new maple hardwood basketball courts that are the direct result of the combined knowledge and expertise of both FieldTurf and Tarkett researchers.

"This is a groundbreaking announcement in our industry," said Gilman.

FieldTurf Tarkett's new venture includes nine new products featuring a lighter, cleaner and denser northern maple hardwood system. The product meets or exceeds all Maple Flooring Manufacturers Association (MFMA) guidelines and provides higher shock absorbency and improved ball rebound. Other attributes of this new basketball court system include more consistent wood grading and longer board length.

"It is a well developed and very comprehensive basketball surfacing system," added Gilman. "With the technology that both FieldTurf and Tarkett possess, you know that this product will be the finest in the industry. Our customers can now get immediate delivery on this latest technology in northern maple systems."

To match the new concept in sports flooring systems, FieldTurf Tarkett has revolutionized customer protection with a new long-term, extended warranty on all its hardwood court products.

"The financial stability of Tarkett, a $2 billion business, with 100 plants in over 40 countries, allows us to bring to market exciting new products and incredible security for our customers through revolutionary warranty offerings unheard of in the industry until now," added Gilman.
