TASER Device Ends Attack on Police K-9


WASHINGTON, March 31, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- TASER International, Inc. (Nasdaq:TASR), a market leader in advanced electronic control devices released the following News Alert:

According to news reports from Florida's The Stuart News, Indian River County Deputy Chris Rodriguez was attempting to pull over Timothy Korth at about 1:15 a.m. Wednesday for running a stop sign when Korth pulled into a driveway in the 2300 block of Cortez Street and started to run. Deputy James Dixon and his K-9 partner Kaden were called to assist in the chase. Kaden was able to quickly catch Korth who then started beating the K-9 on the head with a closed fist. A TASER(r) device was deployed twice before Korth stopped the beating dog and could be restrained.

Korth was transported to Indian River Memorial Hospital to be treated for cuts and bites he received during his K-9 apprehension and was charged with felony fleeing and eluding, battery of a police dog and possession of crack cocaine that officers found in the driver's seat of Korth's vehicle.

Korth was later served with five warrants in Pinellas County for charges of violation of probation.
