Markland Technologies Inc. Manufacturing Facilities Completes ISO 9001 Quality System Certification, as it Begins to Produce Surveillance and Sensing Products


PROVIDENCE, R.I., March 31, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Markland Technologies, Inc. (Pink Sheets:MRKL), a company transforming advanced laboratory technology into real-world products, announced today that its Rhode Island manufacturing facilities have completed ISO (International Organization for Standardization) 9001 quality system certification. ISO is a worldwide federation of national standards adopted by 154 countries and has become an international reference for quality management requirements. The achievement of ISO 9001 certification is an important milestone for Markland as it begins to produce surveillance and sensing products which it has just recently received licensing rights.

Markland has produced and shipped initial low-volume quantities of three unique products to its subsidiary Technest Holdings Inc. in the recent months which have adhered to the ISO 9001 process:

 -- Cerberus Omni Video Surveillance Sensor
 -- HELIOS Laser Deterrent

As part of the certification process, Markland implemented systems and processes to promote uniform high-quality results throughout its product development and production activities.
