Marygrove College Composer-In-Residence Hosts 'Stanton And Friends' On April 21


DETROIT, April 4, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- The annual concert "Stanton and Friends" will be held on Friday, April 21, 2006, at 7:30 p.m. in the Sacred Heart Chapel at Marygrove College. The concert is free and open to the public.

Sponsored by the Marygrove Music Department, the concert features Marygrove Music faculty members with an emphasis on contemporary music. New works by associate professor and composer-in-residence Geoffrey Stanton will be featured.

This eclectic event features music from many different genres, including electronic music and projections. Performers include Geoffrey Stanton along with Anthony McGlaun, assistant professor, director of vocal activities and a tenor, Joanne Rickards Clark, assistant professor of sacred music on the organ, Jacqueline Csurgai-Schmitt, adjunct lecturer and staff accompanist on piano, Angelina Pashmakova, adjunct lecturer and staff accompanist on piano, and Marygrove alumna Debbie Hillebrand on percussion and Megan Higle, current Marygrove student.

Marygrove assistant professor of art James Lutomski will exhibit his ceramics as an addition to the concert.

Composer-in-residence and associate professor Geoff Stanton said, "This fast-paced, energetic evening of music is guaranteed to provide inspiration, challenge and entertainment."
