Photo Release -- Northrop Grumman Appoints Imad Bitar Vice President of Electromagnetic Systems Laboratory


RESTON, Va., April 5, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) has named Imad Bitar vice president of the Electromagnetic Systems Laboratory (ESL), a business unit that provides systems and services for defense and intelligence customers.

ESL is an 800-person operation that supplies airborne reconnaissance systems, strategic signal processing systems, intelligence analysis, and telecommunication system products, technologies and services. Bitar will report to Daniel D. Allen, sector vice president and general manager of the Intelligence Systems division of Northrop Grumman Mission Systems.

Bitar previously served as operations director for the ESL. In his new role, Bitar will be responsible for providing executive leadership and strategy, and will manage market-driven strategic planning, the capture process, relationship management with internal and external customers, program performance, sustainable earnings growth, indirect cost management, cash flow and collaboration for the ESL.

Bitar has held several leadership positions in Northrop Grumman as a program manager, business development manager and business area director. He joined the company in 1982 as a member of the technical staff, where he performed engineering and management work on several U.S. Department of Defense and NASA programs, technology development projects and internally funded initiatives. For the past 10 years, his focus has been on the engineering, development and fielding of critical tactical command and control systems for the U.S. Army.

Bitar earned his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and computer science from the University of California, Berkeley, and his master's degree in computer science from the University of Southern California. He also completed the Executive Management program at the University of California, Los Angeles.
