TASER Device Ends Armed Standoff


WASHINGTON, April 6, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- TASER International, Inc. (Nasdaq:TASR), a market leader in advanced electronic control devices released the following News Alert:

According to news reports from Utah's Daily Herald, police were called to the scene of an aggravated domestic assault at a residence on Cottonwood Lane in Provo where Christopher Richard Clark, 24, was threatening family members with a butcher knife. The family members were able to flee, but Clark proceeded to threaten officers when they arrived.

After repeated refusals to drop his weapon, police deployed a TASER(r) device and were able to confiscate the weapon and contain Clark after he dropped to the ground. Clark was booked into the Utah County Jail on charges of felony aggravated assault, domestic violence against family with a weapon and aggravated assault on police with a weapon.

Clark admitted in court documents that he was being aggressive towards the police in an effort to have them shoot him so he could commit suicide by cop. Family members told investigators that Clark was enrolled in a drug treatment program at the time of the incident.
