Eastern University Presents Nonprofit Excellence Award at Lecture

Louis Mayer Speaks on 'Assessing the Financial Viability of Nonprofits' During Nonprofit Lecture at Eastern University


ST. DAVIDS, Pa., April 6, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- The SEI Investments Award for Nonprofit Excellence was presented during the nonprofit lecture series to Lisa Shulock, the Executive Director NPower PA. The award is given each year to a nonprofit organization that displays excellence in program innovation, strong leadership, evidence of measurable impacts upon the community, and strong financial management. The Award for Nonprofit Excellence is a $5,000 grant funded by the SEI Investments (www.seic.com) . This year, the $5,000 award was presented to NPower PA.

Npower PA (www.npowerpa.org) is an affiliate of the NPower Network, a national network of local nonprofits that help other nonprofits use technology to better serve their communities. In addition to Microsoft Corporation's visionary and founding support of the NPower Network, received start up funding from Microsoft and the William Penn Foundation.

Since opening their doors in April 2003, they have supported over 275 organizations, built a 120-member dues-paying base, facilitated donations of over $1.2 million in Microsoft licenses to local nonprofits, and hosted over 3,200 student-hours of training.

The award was given as a part of the lecture for the nonprofit community. The event speaker was Louis Mayer, Vice President for Financial Affairs at Saint Joseph's University. (www.sju.edu) Prior to joining the University, Mr. Mayer served as Vice President for Finance & Investments and Treasurer for seven years at The William Penn Foundation, a private grant-making organization.
